SEVENTIES BMX DISTIBUTION

After starting the Backyard shop in 1989 we soon became aware that the existing cycling distributors were primarily focused on corporate brands and there was a whole new breed of core brands being started by riders that weren’t currently available the UK. These brands were too small for the big distributors to even notice them… Little did they (or anyone for that matter) know some these brands would go on to become some of the biggest brands in BMX today. Prior to opening the shop I’d spent 6 months living and riding in San Diego and had become friends with many riders including Eddie Roman, Vic Murphy, Ronnie Farmer and Brad Blanchard so as soon as Eddie released ‘Ride Like A Man’ on VHS it was only natural that we imported them into the UK. So in 1991 Seventies Distribution was born.

As a rider and owner of Seventies Distribution, Stuart Dawkins always identified with rider owned brands as these tended to be more focused on the design and functionality of the products than the corporate brands. More so than any other time riding was advancing at an incredible rate and these new brands were at the forefront of this changing landscape. After dipping our toe in the distribution water with videos we went to import Dirt Bros, Havok (Sprocket Pocket plastic bashguards and pegs), 2B Clothing and Funk Pelts. As BMX continued to grow in popularity we went on to import brands such as S&M Bikes, Hoffman Bikes & Primo parts.

We later went on to import many key brands including Fit, Kink, Mutiny, Macneil, UGP, Tree, Little Devil, Orchid, Lotek etc. More recently we’ve expended our range to include some of the best BMX and Street, Park & Trails brands in the world and offer next day delivery on all orders in the UK.
